I was born in the multi-ethnic region of Transylvania and got early used to complying with different languages and cultures. This area is a melting-pot following its history of shifting boundaries and rulers up through history. You can see the Romanian, Hungarian and German heritage in the form of different folk costumes, architecture, cuisine, music and festivals. Most of the cities have their names in both German and Hungarian, and you will find Hungarian as well as German Schools, theaters and cultural institutions throughout the region. Through my Hungarian and German family, I got used to switching between different languages from an early age, and my interest for studying languages started growning.
I think it is remarkable how families continue to protect and care for the different languages they speak, regardless of which nation is in charge of their territority. My region Transylvania has been in the hands of Dacians, Hungarians, Austrians, Ottomans and Romanians throughout the centuries, but the people stay the same and are proud of their heritage in this beautiful region with its shifting landscapes of mountains, meadows, rivers and woods. Words that have melted together during the centuries, like the word for greeting "Servus" which can be found in both Romanian, Hungarian and German are important signs of people's ability of mixing together through mutal understanding and respect between different cultures living peacefully side by side.
After attending the West Universtity of Timisoara, studying German and English, I worked as a Project Manager for two international companies with direct contact with UK and German clients, getting up to date on business language and understanding in particular within the online market research and marketing industries. I find it facinating to see the amount of new words entering the languages from the online world, and my background from the internet e-commerce business is very valuable for my translation work. Following my move from Timisoara to London, I have started up my own translation company with associated freelancers successfully completing several translation projects. Most notably, I have done market research and website translations.
